Itinerary

This private vacation tour starts with your driver picking you up early in the morning from your hotel and heading toward Ouarzazate via the Tickha Pass, the highest road pass in Morocco. See the panoramic views of the High Atlas Mountains, magnificent landscapes, and small Berber villages. Visit Kasbah Telouet – an extraordinary sight of the Atlas, a palatial residence and headquarters of the powerful Glaoui tribe. Visit Ait Ben Haddou – the  UNESCO-protected site that inspired many movie makers. Continue to Ouarzazate. Hotel on HB

Visit the city of Ouarzazate and its famous Kasbah Taourirt, residence of the Pasha of Marrakech. Follow the route of One Thousand Kasbahs toward the Skoura Oasis. Take a lovely off-road in the oasis, passing homes of local people. Visit the Kasbah Amridil featured in many Moroccan brochures. Pass through the Rose Valley, famous for its roses and beauty products.  Continue through the strange rock creation of Tamnalt Hills, resembling monkey feet. End your day at Dades Gorge, a deep gorge of red and mauve rock. Overnight in Dades Gorge. Hotel on HB

Depart Dades Gorge and visit another deep oasis, the Todra Gorge with tall, narrow walls. Spend some time appreciating this natural wonder before resuming your trip towards the Sahara Desert. Arrive at Merzouga, a doorway to the desert where your guide and camels will carry you across the sandy dunes of the Sahara Desert. As the sun sets on the desert landscape, a two-hour camel trek will take you to your desert camp and home for the night: a traditional nomad tent. You will be served refreshing mint tea, a symbol of Moroccan hospitality, and a simple tagine meal freshly prepared by your guide. Romantic night full of stars. Overnight in a nomad tent, dinner & breakfast.

Enjoy a beautiful sunrise over the sand dunes and ride the camels back to Merzouga to shower and breakfast. Visit the beautiful seasonal lake of Tamezquidate, which has water generally from November to April or May, a striking contrast to the sand dunes of Sahara Desert. Visit the ancient city of Rissani, origin of many ancient Arab dynasties. See men wearing the indigo blue robes distinctive of Saharan people. Visit the old Kasbah, where people still live today, and the market. Your private tour continues toward Erfroud, known for its date palm trees and annual date palm festival. Overnight in Erfourd.

Leave Erfourd and travel along the scenic Ziz Valley, passing palm groves and green valleys. Encounter local nomads herding their animals, living in the tents in the fields. See the city of Azrou, famous for woodwork and gorgeous red carpets. Visit the cedar forests where colonies of monkeys will amuse you. Continue to the city of Ifrane, resembling a Swiss ski resort village. Arrive in Fez late in the afternoon and you will be dropped off at your lovely riad.
