Your driver picks you up at your riad or hotel in Marrakech and heads west to the Atlantic coast. Essaouira, a UNESCO-listed walled port town, is known for its white houses with blue shutters, its grilled seafood and its fine handicrafts. You have dinner and spend the night at your hotel there.
You leave Essaouira and follow the Atlantic coast south toward Agadir, passing argan trees where local goats climb the branches to feed, the source of the oil used in cooking and beauty products, and wide coastal landscapes. You arrive in Agadir in the late afternoon, with dinner and the night in a hotel.
After breakfast you head south to Tiznit, the Silver City, known for its jewellery. The coast road then continues past Aglou Beach to Mirleft, where you have lunch and time to relax, and the day ends at your hotel at Legzira Beach.
The day turns inland through the foothills of the Anti-Atlas, with small oases and Berber villages in a landscape of desert mountains. The highlight is Tafraout, set among huge pink granite boulders that glow pink, ochre and purple at sunset. Dinner and the night are in a hotel.
After breakfast the route climbs into the Atlas by the Tizi n'Test pass, with a stop at the Almohad mosque of Tinmel. From there you drive through Berber villages and changing landscapes before reaching Marrakech.
