The 3-day version of the Erg Chebbi trip, with a night in a nomad tent in the dunes. Your driver takes you over the High Atlas to the Dades Gorge on day 1 and on past the Todra Gorge to Merzouga on day 2, where you ride into the dunes for dinner with entertainment, then brings you back to Marrakech on day 3.

Want a gentler return? The 4 day Erg Chebbi tour splits the drive home in two, and the 5 day loop returns by a different road. Prefer a different dune field? See the 3 day Erg Chigaga tour, or ask us to tailor a route. You can also read what past travellers say or get in touch.
Your driver picks you up at your Marrakech hotel and takes you over the High Atlas at the Tizi n'Tichka pass, past old adobe villages and across wide mountain scenery. In Ouarzazate, sometimes called the Hollywood of Africa for the international films shot nearby, you visit the Taourirt Kasbah before continuing to the Skoura palm grove and Kelaa M'Gouna, the town of roses. Colourful Berber villages lead to the Dades Gorge, where dinner and the night are at your hotel.
From the Dades Valley the road runs to Tinghir and the Todra Gorge, where lunch is at a restaurant set among the canyon walls; anyone who wants to stretch their legs can walk about an hour along the valley floor. In the afternoon you pass through Tinjedad, with its ancient underground irrigation system rich in fossils, and on to Erfoud and the Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga. After a short rest you ride camels straight to an oasis, where dinner with entertainment is served under the stars, and the night is spent in a nomad tent.
Watch the sunrise and ride back by camel to the hotel before leaving for Rissani and Erfoud. The road passes the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, with lunch on the way, then crosses the High Atlas with its dramatic views and reaches Marrakech in the early evening.
