Morocco tours FAQ: the questions we hear most

Are your Morocco tours private?

Yes. Our tours from Marrakech are private: your own driver-guide and your own vehicle for the whole route, with an English and French-speaking driver-guide. You are not placed in a group with other travellers.

How much does a tour cost?

We do not publish fixed prices, because the price depends on your dates, group size, route and where you sleep. Send us your dates, group size and the kind of trip you want, and we reply with a route and a price. Your quote spells out what is included before you book.

What is included in a tour?

Each tour page lists what is and is not included. Breakfast is included every day on our tours. Anything not listed on the tour page, such as other meals, drinks and entrance fees, is something to confirm with us when you book.

Where do the tours start and finish?

Most of our tours start in Marrakech, and on the Marrakech tours your driver collects you from your hotel. The Toubkal treks start on foot at Imlil. If you want a different start, a different length or a slower pace, describe it on the Customized Trips page and we plan it with you.

Can you build a trip around my interests?

Yes. Our listed tours are a starting point, not a limit. Tell us your dates, group size, the pace you like and anything you would rather avoid, and we come back with a proposed route and a quote. Desert nights, cooking classes, craft visits, birdwatching, golf, surfing and sandboarding can be added to most routes.

Should I choose Erg Chebbi or Erg Chigaga?

Erg Chebbi, at Merzouga, is the easier dune field to reach. Erg Chigaga is harder to get to, so it gets fewer visitors. Our guide to Erg Chebbi vs Erg Chigaga compares the two, and we are happy to advise once we know your dates and how many days you have.

When is the best time to visit the Sahara?

The desert is hot in summer and cold at night in winter, so the season matters. Our season-by-season guide to the Morocco desert goes through it month by month.

What should I pack for a desert tour?

Nights in the desert can be cold in winter and days hot in summer, so pack layers, a scarf and sun protection.

Can I travel with children, or with special needs?

Yes. For families, tell us the ages of your children and we plan shorter drives and days with something active in them. If anyone in your group has limited mobility or a special diet, tell us before we plan the route so that we can arrange what is needed.

Do you run your own desert camps?

Yes. We run Morocco Desert Camp and the Erg Chigaga Luxury Camp, and each has its own website, linked in the footer of every page.

Who is Amazing Morocco and where are you based?

Amazing Morocco is the trading name of Amazing Journeys Morocco, a registered company in Morocco (registration number 6994647), based in Tagounite in the Draa Valley, on the road between Zagora and M’Hamid. The managing director is Lahsen Alkouch. Full details are on the About page.
