7 Day Morocco Tour: Three Ways to Plan a Week

A week is enough for one desert and one other region. Here are three ways to build a 7 day Morocco tour from our listed tours, and what each one asks of you.

Hiker walking up an orange sand dune

A 7 day Morocco tour is enough for one night or two in the Sahara and one other region, such as the mountains or the coast. It is not enough to cross the whole country comfortably. We do not sell one fixed seven-day package. Instead, this page shows three weeks you can build from our listed tours, each of which starts and ends in Marrakech apart from the third, and a fourth idea for a week in the desert. We put the order, the Marrakech nights and the price into one quote.

Week 1: the desert, then the mountains

Days 1 to 3: the 3 day Erg Chigaga desert tour, over the High Atlas to Ait Ben Haddou, down the Draa Valley to M’Hamid and a night in the dunes, back to Marrakech on day 3. Day 4: a rest day in Marrakech, or a day trip such as the Agafay desert. Days 5 and 6: the 2 day Toubkal trek from Imlil, with a night at altitude and the 4,167 metre summit on day 2 if the weather and your pace allow it. Day 7: back in Marrakech.

The Toubkal trek is the demanding part. If you would rather not climb, replace it with the Imlil day trip, a walk between villages with no night out.

Week 2: dunes and a slower pace

Days 1 to 4: the 4 day Erg Chebbi desert tour, through the Dades and Todra gorges to Merzouga and the dunes of Erg Chebbi, with a return by Agdez, Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou. Day 5: the Essaouira day trip. Day 6: the Ourika Valley day trip. Day 7: a free day in Marrakech before you leave. This is the gentlest week of the three, with a long desert trip followed by two short days out.

Week 3: across the country to Fes

The 5 day Marrakech to Fes desert tour crosses the country by way of Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate, the Dades and Todra gorges, Erg Chebbi and the Ziz Valley, and finishes in Fes. Add two days in Fes, where our guide to visiting the Fes medina helps you plan, to make seven. You finish in Fes, not Marrakech, so check where your flight leaves from; Customized Trips can add nights or a transfer.

A week in the desert only

If you want the Sahara and nothing else, the 7 day camel trek in Erg Chigaga is a seven-day tour from Marrakech to Marrakech that travels by camel for several days. It is a trek, not a sightseeing tour, so read the page before you choose it. See also camel trekking in Morocco.

How we put a week together

Each tour above is private, with your own driver-guide and vehicle, and each is quoted for your group. Ask us to include the Marrakech nights in the quote, or arrange them yourself. Tell us your dates, the group and how active you want the week to be through the quote form, and we reply with a route and a price. Is a week enough for Morocco?

A week is enough for one desert and one other region, such as the mountains or the coast. It is not enough to cross the whole country comfortably; for that, look at our 11 day Grand Morocco tour.

Do you have a ready-made 7 day Morocco tour?

Not as one package. A week is built from our listed tours and quoted as one trip. The one listed tour that lasts seven days is the 7 day camel trek in Erg Chigaga.

Can I change the plan?

Yes. The weeks on this page are starting points; Customized Trips explains how to add a night, drop a day of driving or swap the Atlas for the coast.
